Sabi Sands Game Reserve

“Very good first safari experience”

We stayed at Elephant Plains for 3 nights in August (wintertime). It was our first safari and our first trip to South Africa. The staff were a pleasure to deal with. We stayed at the Leopard and Lion Suite and it was spectacular. The outdoor shower, the huge deck, and the outdoor patio helped us relax as soon as we arrived. The bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping was great, and because it was cold we had the option to an open fire in the room (very much appreciated).
The drives themselves were great. Fanoti (very good with kids) and Louis (knowledgable and funny) showed us as much as possible. We saw “the big 5” in the first two drives! The food was good. The boma setting and the bar visits before dinner were great ways to wind down each evening. Highly recommended, especially for first time safari-ers! Lots of sightings.

“Great Safari Experience”

Me and my girlfriend stayed at Elephant Plains while we were visiting Kruger national park in December 2011. The resort is one of kind and is in the middle of wilderness. We stayed in their honeymoon suite and it was a great experience. It is part of the main resort but it’s still secluded from the rest of it. It has huge deck with small pool and a great view. In fact, very early in the morning we saw a leopard walk by on the deck while we were inside the room.
The staff and rangers at this resort are friendly and knowledgable. Their early mornings and evening safaris are a very exciting experience. Make sure you have your camera with you since you will end up spotting the big 5 during the game drives. Apart from the nice rooms, they have a common patio area with a great view and huge dining area and a nice bar. If you want to enjoy nature in peace and quiet, this is a place to stay. And I must mention their food. It’s a combination african and european cuisine and it’s delicious.

“Simply a fantastic experience”

We had a very warm welcome and every member of the staff was very friendly during our stay. The personal approach from every member of staff really made a difference.
The surroundings were fantastic and our room “Zebra” was huge with our own sun deck – amazing view.
We had some fantastic game drives with our ranger Wayne, he’s a great story teller and we got really close to the animals.
Don´t miss one of the spa treatments. Having a massage while enjoying the view of the plains and waterhole is just impossible to describe. A definite must do.
If one thing did not live up to our expectations, it has to be dinner. The surroundings were fantastic, but dinner fell a bit short of everything else that was just fantastic.
Lunch and breakfast were excellent.
We would love to visit Elephant Plains again some time and would recommend it to anyone.

“Amazing Safari”

We stayed at Elephant Plains and it was fantastic. We had a luxury room with huge deck overlooking the Bush.
Our twice daily game drives were more than excellent thanks to Louis our Guide and Michael our Tracker were both great and really wanted to make sure you had a good time, as well as being extremely knowledgeable. They asked what we’d like to see and delivered every time – what more could you ask for. We saw the Big 5 and so much more a fantastic experience.
The extras like blankets and hot water bottles waiting in the Jeep for you at 05:30am, and the hot drinks during morning drivesand the sundowners of an evening were great.
The food was very good, though not very hot and it was fun eating round the Boma (campfire) of an evening and making marshmallows after dinner.
The staff were all very friendly and the accomodation lovely – I’d highly recommend Elephant Plains.
