Lourenco Marques Honeymoon Suite
The Lourenco Marques Suite is a must for honeymooners or the romantic at heart. Whether it is the fragrant flower petals strewn on the exquisite bedlinen, or the candles illuminating the bathroom on return from the evening safari, a stay in this romantic suite will always be remembered.
Selati Camps romantic ambience is never more palpable than in the beautiful Lourenco Marques (LM) Honeymoon Suite, where every detail is carefully planned for a memorable stay.
A king−size bed, draped with soft mosquito netting, dominates the suite, and perfectly offsets the luxuriant linens, antique furniture pieces and richly textured drapes. An en−suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor baths and showers is a place for relaxing and pampering after an exhilarating safari.
Couples celebrating special occasions are treated to every indulgence − champagne bucket, in−suite dining, petal-strewn bedroom.
The suite and bathroom look even more enchanting when lit by dozens of candles against the backdrop of the dark African night.
Luxury Safari Cuisine
World-class cuisine is served on wooden thatched decks built alongside the Msuthlu riverbed, in the open air “boma” or in the “farmhouse kitchen”. Cuisine at Sabi Sabi is more than just a meal – it is an indulgence and an African cultural experience. Sabi Sabi caters for all dietary requirements on request. Here head chefs Gift Khoza and Shadrack Sishlangu concentrate on “home cooked South African menus”. These two local chefs believe in ‘cooking for friends’ and delight in personally introducing each meal. The emphasis is always on preparing dishes with the freshest ingredients and unique flavours brought together in a traditional South African way. Menus are hearty, scrumptious and deliciously different.
Sabi Sabi epitomises Africa’s magic. With no fences between the reserve and the Kruger Park, big game abounds, moving freely through this unspoiled part of the ancient African continent. The Reserve is blessed with a great biodiversity of habitat and wildlife giving an excellent chance of close encounters with the ‘Big Five’ – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard – as well as wild dog and cheetah. With over 300 bird species, the reserve is a birdwatcher’s delight.
There has been no hunting here for over half a century and the animals have become habituated to – and relaxed in the presence of – safari vehicles. The ultimate destination for a luxury safari; visitors to Sabi Sabi can look forward the unique experience of close encounters with animals as they continue unperturbed in their natural daily patterns of hunting, feeding, courting and suckling.
Safaris take place each morning and evening in open safari vehicles which drive through a wide variety of habitats, allowing visitors to view the vast interactions of the wild. After breakfast, guests on guided walking trails can experience the natural environment on foot. The dedicated, highly trained and experienced Rangers lead you to discover miracles of nature you may never have dreamed existed.
Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve has always been known for its breathtaking wildlife encounters. Our quiet approach and the respect with which we conduct our safaris have ensured that guests get up close and exclusive with Africa’s amazing animals, and are able to take stunning photographs. Ever since the first game drive took place at Sabi Sabi over three decades ago, photographers have clamoured for the opportunity of visiting our reserve, and many of their pictures have graced the pages of glorious coffee table books.
Capturing safari experiences on camera has always been an integral part of the Sabi Sabi experience, and the new digital age has made it easier for everyone to try their hand at taking the perfect picture. As equipment has evolved and more advanced cameras have become available to all levels of photographers, a new and rewarding way of securing those precious memories is to engage a professional photographer to assist you with every step.
The Sabi Sabi Photographic Safari offers guests the unique experience of being guided, by a professional photographer through the intricacies of getting the very best out of a camera and of how to take that perfect, once in a lifetime, wildlife picture. These Photographic Safaris are available on request.
Stargazing – A dedicated sky safari
The majority of people who live in cities are unable to observe the beauty of the night sky because light pollution prohibits any form of star-gazing. Naturally then, one of the highlights for many of our guests is a chance to observe the unobstructed splendour of the Milky Way. Sabi Sabi’s prime location, well away from city lights, means boundless stargazing opportunities, regardless of the season. All stargazing at Sabi Sabi is tailored to our guests’ requests – either by the ranger whilst on evening safari, or by one of our senior rangers who can set up a telescope and together with the use of sky maps and a laser pointer take you on a dedicated sky safari. Hot glühwein and finger-snacks are the perfect accompaniment to this special safari.
Sabi Sabi is a birdwatcher’s delight – home to nearly 350 species. The reserve’s varying habitats such as open grass plains, dry woodland savanna and thick riverine bush offer exciting bird watching for novice and expert alike.
Authentic Shangaan Community Tours
For decades, visitors to Sabi Sabi have been intrigued by the local Shangaan culture and customs of nearby villages. Stories are shared by the many Shangaan staff members who call the private game reserve home; with their rich heritage, in-depth knowledge of the bushveld and local legends adding a fascinating dimension to a memorable safari.
Now guests are able to gain even more insight into authentic village life by taking part in a tour of neighbouring communities during their stay at Sabi Sabi. Homes, schools, community centres and sports facilities are participating in the tour; and the proceeds from the small fee levied to guests all go directly back to the community.
