MalaMala Sable Camp – Sabi Sand Game Reserve – Africa Geographic
MalaMala Sable Camp is a luxurious and intimate safari lodge situated in the heart of the world famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Accommodating a maximum of fourteen guests, Sable Camp is ideally suited for honeymooners and Big 5 enthusiasts. The lodge itself is elevated above the surrounding landscape and offers breathtaking views over the Sand River and Sabi Sand Reserve.
The main lodge is elevated, offering excellent views over the Kruger bushveld. Inside the main building is a small library with satellite TV and internet connectivity. The open plan lounge offers a wide range of comfortable chairs and sofas flanked by a stylish safari bar and indoor fireplace. There is a large wooden viewing deck leading out from the lounge, looking out over the banks of the Sand River and beyond to the Kruger bushveld. The deck also doubles up as an outdoor dining area for most evenings.
The lush gardens just below the main building feature a large swimming pool with sun loungers and a small shaded area. There is also an outdoor boma area where guests can enjoy meals under the stars or relax around the fire with a drink. All guests at MalaMala Sable Camp have access to all the facilities at MalaMala Main camp – including the safari boutique and fitness centre.
Accommodation at MalaMala Sable Camp consists of just six luxury suites. Each suite is equipped with its own private veranda with table and chairs. Large glass sliding doors open up into the spacious living area which houses a mini bar, tea and coffee facilities and plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas. The main bedroom houses king or twin beds with air-conditioning, bedside lighting, an electronic safe and plenty of storage room. Each luxury suite is equipped with two bathrooms, each with indoor showers and a large bathtub.
Activities at MalaMala Sable Camp are all safari based. The lodge offers morning and evening game drives in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve as well as birdwatching and guided walks. MalaMala is in a Big 5 area – with regular sightings of lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes and many other species.
