MalaMala Sable Camp | Hide & Seek Luxury Travel

MalaMala Sable Camp is a more secluded and intimate version of sister camp, MalaMala Main yet shares the outstanding safari and hospitality experience. In an elevated position above the Sand River, the camp offers warm interiors, sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and an exclusive spot within a private reserve.

Plan your journey

Location

The camp is one of three properties in the MalaMala Game Reserve on the border between Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands. This 13,200 hectare reserve is one of South Africa’s oldest and is home to the ‘MalaMala Big Seven’ (The traditional Big Five with the addition of cheetah and wild dog). It’s incredibly rich in game and shares an unfenced border with national park yet only MalaMala vehicles are allowed on the majority of the reserve so activities are unspoiled.

Rooms

There are just six suites at the camp, all continuing the warm and relaxing tones which run through all the MalaMala camps. There are large beds, wooden writing desks and a seating area with a sofa, armchairs and a chunky wooden coffee table. Patterned curtains and sliding glass doors open to a private deck and en-suites have bathtubs and his-and-her basins. Groups travelling together can book the Lions Den, a two bedroom accommodation with a separate lounge and deck.

Communal Areas

Elevated on stilts, the communal area offers incredible views over the bush with warm interiors and a huge viewing deck where guests can watch wildlife flock to the river. There is also a safari bar and dining room, and high tea is served each day before afternoon drives on the deck. Outside, a swimming pool provides a welcome spot after a day of activity. Guests can also use the gym facilities at sister camp, MalaMala Main Camp nearby.

Activities

Take morning and afternoon game drives through the reserve to spot the MalaMala Seven and many more. Head out on walking safaris to track game and get close to the flora and fauna that inhabit this incredible natural area. Birders will enjoy over 300 types of bird including hawk-eagle, half-collared kingfisher and dwarf bitten. Dedicated vehicles are also available for photographic safaris and skilled rangers will ensure you get the best shot to take home.
