Dulini Leadwood Lodge – Review of Dulini Lodge, Sabi Sand Game Reserve, South Africa
My partner and I stayed at the Dulini Game Lodge for 3 nights at the start of our honeymoon. We loved how intimate the lodge feels – it really does feel like you’re staying with a family who happens to also have excellent taste – it never felt like a huge production (though I’m sure it was, the attention to detail during our stay was impressive) just small, private and exclusive.
A big part of it is because of the genuinely warm and lovely people working there, we had Chris and Reply as our butlers – and Leanthe the general manager greeted us with hot towels to help take the dust off each game drive… and it never felt like it was a chore for them.
Their chef, Bennie was a deft hand at cooking up delicious breakfasts and dinners, and every night was a surprise setting, one night next to the fire in the main building, the next in your own room with a hot bubble bath drawn waiting for your return. The team went out of their way to make it all such an unforgettable experience.
Our guide and tracker, Kaiser and Prince were a tag team pair of Kings of the Bush – it was rewarding watching a pair who have worked together for over a decade weave and dance around each other’s signals and calls – giving us some of the finest safari experiences we’ve had. They were both really knowledgeable and it almost felt like staged managed entertainment, the way they could predict what the animals would do next – but of course they were not, these are wild animals! You’ll see all the big 5 here of course and more – one of the advantages of sharing traversing rights with a number of other lodges in the area is that they have many many more eyes and ears on the lookout with Dulini’s team, so there was never a quiet drive out.
I can’t praise this wonderful lodge more – it’s classy without being splashy, it’s intimate, it’s professional, it’s beautiful. Book without hesitation, we’ll be back for sure….
