Mala Mala Game Reserve is the largest private Big Five game reserve in South Africa. It is the Safari Industry’s blueprint to the luxury photographic safari and was one of the first to offer its visitors luxury game lodge accommodation.
In existence since 1927, this vast, thriving tract of land produces some of the most exciting wildlife experiences in South Africa.
It sprawls over 13 500 hectare and has a 12 kilometre unfenced border with the Kruger National Park so visitors are assured a surer chance of seeing the Big Five (leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino).
No visitors’ cars are allowed on the property so you can stay as long as you wish at a sighting with your game ranger in a Mala Mala vehicle. It is said that rangers record the days in a year when the Big Five are NOT seen!
Mala Mala is the destination of choice for photojournalists and film-makers to capture footage of wildlife viewing and has been featured in many books and wildlife documentaries.
